Hyperdilute Radiesse and Sculptra aesthetics are bio stimulatory agents used to rejuvenate the skin, improve texture, correct volume loss and wrinkles, and improve the appearance of cellulite and skin laxity. Biostimulation means your own body is stimulated to produce a controlled inflammatory response which recruits cells that produce collagen! We recommended doing a series of three treatments six weeks apart and then once every 12-18 months for maintenance.
These treatments will gradually tighten and thicken the treatment area creating smoother and firmer skin.
Radiesse is a calcium-based filler that is mixed with a saline solution to thin it and then injected into the skin using a blunt tip cannula. The entry points for the cannula are numbed for your comfort. Common areas of laxity include the neck, chest, lower face, hands, abdomen, and buttocks. It can also be used in other areas of the body where the skin is losing elasticity such as the upper arms, behind the elbow, above the knee, and back of the thighs. Along with collagen, Radiesse also stimulates elastin which makes it great for tightening. Sculptra Aesthetic is made of a substance called Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which acts as a collagen stimulator producing a softer, more youthful appearance. It comes as a powder and is pre-mixed using sterile water and lidocaine prior to injection. Sculptra is injected mostly in the perimeter of the face including temporal hollows, preauricular, and posterior jawline. Similar to Radiesse, it can also be used in the body to help with volume loss and correct cellulite. A needle or blunt tip cannula can be used for injection.
Both of these treatments are great, natural options to improve the signs of aging. There is little to no downtime with both. You may have some bruising at the injection site and mild swelling where the product was injected. The areas treated need to be massaged five minutes a day, five times per day, for five days.
