FAQ
If prescribed, how long will I have to take weight-loss medications?
At RUMA, we tailor your weight loss program to achieve your individual weight loss goals, and the duration of your prescription will be determined accordingly by your physician.
Who can take weight-loss medications?
To determine if you are a good candidate, our physician will first order a comprehensive lab panel to address any underlying causes that may be preventing you from losing weight. We will also go over any contraindications that may disqualify you from taking any weight loss medication. Please let your provider know if you are currently on any weight loss medications or supplements, have kidney, heart, or liver problems, or are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, and/or breastfeeding.
What is semaglutide and how does semaglutide work?
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. GLP-1 affects areas of the brain that help regulate appetite, thus is an appetite suppressant and will decrease the intake of food. Semaglutide also delays how quickly your stomach empties food, keeping you feeling full longer.
Does my insurance cover any of this treatment?
Unfortunately no. However, we have financing options available here at RUMA, just give us a call for more information.
Why should I choose RUMA for weight management?
Here at RUMA, we strive to prioritize and optimize your health goals. We have structured our weight loss programs on evidence-based practice. Our weight loss program is modeled to ensure you are monitored by a board-certified physician during your weight loss journey. In addition, we have an in-house certified wellness coach who will provide you with expert guidance and support throughout the entirety of the the program, including monitoring progress, adjusting treatment as needed, and providing education and counseling.
What if I have tried Semaglutide in the past and cannot tolerate it?
There are a variety of other medications and modalities that can be utilized for weight loss assistance. If you have tried semaglutide previously and cannot tolerate it please inform our functional medicine provider to discuss other viable treatment options.
